ENGLISH TUTOR – Guangzhou, China
September 2012 - September 2015
On completion of my contract (plus a two month extension) in Haimen, I decided to move to a city where the weather was warmer. Eventually, I chose Guangzhou and leased a large apartment in a modern development. I teach both children and adults in my apartment or in their homes or offices. All classes are either one-on-one or one-on-two and Business English classes are tailored to industry requirements which currently include Trading, Film and Television, Law and Manufacturing. I also provide professional services for a Shanghai-based drug manufacturing and distribution company which includes training in Medical English for the international sales team.
NATIVE ENGLISH TEACHER – China
January 2011 - September 2012
I have had a long term love of the English language and have written for press, radio and television and also written two successful published books. I decided to combine my love of, and expertise in, the English language with a love of teaching. The Manager of an English School in Chuxiong, Southern China, offered me a position as a freelance Teacher, which I accepted. I worked both freelance and for two English Schools. In Chuxiong, I taught over 200 Students with all exceeding the required levels. Six of my students successfully competed in the National Oral English Competition.
My teaching activities all involved creating Teaching Plans and making or acquiring all Teaching materials. With all new classes and with individual new students, I measured entry abilities then regularly re-assessed to check and ensure consistent progress.
In response to requests from several parents, I created and delivered an Oral English Course for people visiting single-language, English-speaking countries. This course was delivered in 2 hour sessions, 5 days a week over 4 weeks.
I also tutored students who have applied to Hong Kong, Australian and Malaysian Universities for admission to many different faculties to assist them with entry interviews.
