About Me

Although I am only 18, I have substantial experience in STEM fields, having interned at Auckland Universities PhD chemistry labs in 2018, having my name published on a scientific paper in the Journal of Natural Products, and completed my VCE at Swinburne Senior Secondary in 2020 with awards for high achievement in physics, mathematical methods and further maths( sac average of 97%). I am currently undertaking my Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) at RMIT University, in which my understanding of maths and science has significantly expanded. Through my Engineering Mathematics class, I have thoroughly covered calculus and complex numbers at specialist maths level and above, achieving a high distinction for the subject.
Whilst I now consider myself extremely proficient in stem subjects, throughout my early high school years maths and science was my downfall. This was until I began to work with a tutor who showed me a different way of thinking, and ever since then, I have had immense success within the stem field. Because of this, I know how extremely important and beneficial tutors are for young minds, as not everyone can excel with the stock standard teaching style seen in the majority of high schools. I strongly believe that every student has the ability to succeed in any subject with an alternative learning approach and time.
I am extremely passionate about increasing female representation in STEM fields of work, and it would be such a privilege to work with other young girls and provide them with a female role model in STEM, inspiring them to reach their full potential. I have always enjoyed sitting down and providing assistance to my fellow students when they are struggling with a concept or a task, and I believe that I would be extremely fulfilled in this position. Alongside my achievements in stem, I am very passionate about politics, having gotten high marks (90% average) in global politics through my VCE. I have a lot of knowledge about both Australian politics and global politics, reading and listening to multiple news sources daily, and I am involved in political clubs.
Although many may believe that having only just having completed my VCE that I lack experience, I believe that this is an advantage. I am able to relate and easily communicate with students and can provide first-hand experiences and knowledge of my time in VCE. I have also retained all of my VCE studying materials such as sacs, notes, textbooks and all of the content is still fresh in my head.
