My name is Monica and I was born and raised in Guangdong China. I am fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin. At the age of 18, I moved from China to New York City where I spent the last 7 years of my life. In NYC, I was working at the largest Chinese radio station called AM1480 as a radio personality / broadcaster. It is similar to SBS here in Australia. I hosted 3 weekly prime-time shows and also announced daily news, weather and finance reports all in Chinese. At the same time, I was also tutoring Chinese as a side job. I really enjoyed helping students of all ages learn the Chinese language and apply it to everyday lives. I had students ranging from 2 years old to 80 years old.
I moved to Melbourne just 2 month ago from New York and I would love to continue my passion for teaching Chinese. My secret is to listen and understand to your reasons why you want to learn Chinese and then build a plan that focuses on your objectives. For example, if you want to learn just how to speak so you can prepare for travelling throughout China, we can just focus on practicing verbal conversation. Or if you want to learn the whole reading and writing, I have materials for that also.
If you are interested, let’s do a free meet-and-greet so we can get to know each other better. You can then decide whether we are good fit. If so, we can build a study plan together. Looking forward to meeting you!
