About Me

English, ESL, Essay Writing, Music Theory, Musicianship, History, Geography, IELTS, TOEFL, English Literature, Piano, Reading, Viola, Violin

In addition to subject area knowledge & content, I can offer guidance & practical strategies through ‘scaffolding’ tasks, research planning, assignment structures, time management and useful genre based tips on how to write what you really want to say in extended writing tasks.

As a registered teacher in Queensland, I enjoy tailoring tutoring sessions to the individual needs of the student combining fresh & flexible approaches to make learning meaningful.

My base location at Mount Gravatt East is conveniently located close to Mansfield, Holland Park, Mount Gravatt, Coorparoo, Whites Hill, Cannon Hill, Wishart, Tarragindi, Carindale and Belmont. Group tutoring in another location around Brisbane can be discussed.

In addition to English, English Communication, English for ESL Learners, Music (Curriculum), Geography, History, IELTS preparation, I also offer tuition in piano, violin, viola and music theory from beginner to advanced. I regularly perform as an piano accompanist with various groups and violist in the Brisbane Symphony Orchestra. In April 2018 I was featured on SBS radio highlighting a project with a student involving song-writing in a language other than English.

I first started full-time teaching in 1999 and have enjoyed assisting students with their learning in Australia, Vanuatu and China. I have experience teaching and tutoring all age groups across a variety of class sizes including individual, small & large settings.

Considering my experience in Australia, Asia and the South Pacific, I have an understanding of the needs of, and empathy for, both local and international students who are coping with the specific demands of assessment structures and teaching styles in Australia – specifically in the Queensland education system. I am currently registered with the Queensland College of Teachers which requires up-to-date checks for working with children.
