I am a University student studying a bachelor of engineering (whaaa?), however I have been playing the saxophone for approximately 12 years now, starting in primary school.
Since first picking up the Sax, I have completed the AMEB exams (8th Grade attained in 2013), performed with school bands all through primary school before playing lead saxophone for the Sydney Regional Band in 2007. Going into high school, I have since played with concert and stage bands at Sydney Technical High School, where I have also studied music from year 7 - 12. In the year of 2012, I played as first saxophone with the presitigious Sydney Symphonic Wind Ensemble, further developing my ensemble experience. I have since studied music throughout my senior years at high school, completing Music 2 and Music Extension, majoring in Performance, for which I have received a Band 6 and band E4 (extension equivalent of a Band 6) respectively in my HSC.
My theory is that music should be enjoyed by everyone, and whether you're learning for fun or with the intention to sit your AMEB exams, it is an amazing skill to have in life, with many of the fundamental lessons learned being applicable to other ventures in life.
